This week we are continuing our series on the book of Daniel. Today, Armann will go over the historical events that line up with the prophecy given in chapter 11. How Alexander’s empire was divided up between his four generals. Two of those empires, the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, the Seleucid Empire in the east play key roles in the history of Israel. From the Seleucid empire arose a leader named Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who is the central character of chapter 11.

Today we will go over Daniel chapter 4. Pastor Armann will look at the historical records we have discovered. Do we have records that corroborate the narrative in chapter 4 that Nebuchadnezzar did indeed lose his mind? Pastor Donavan will continue with his character study by looking at the posture of the heart, the motive, what can we draw from this account that fuels our relationship with God.
This morning we are going through Daniel chapter 3. We will continue looking at the historical background. What was the statue of gold? Where was it located? What was its purpose? Why was Daniel not thrown in the fire with his friends? Who was the mysterious being in the fire with them? We will also continue with our character study by looking at the courage and resolve that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego showed as an example for all of us. Our God can save us from our predicaments, but if He doesn’t, we will not leave Him and start serving other gods or worshipping idols.
For this series on Daniel, we will have two speakers. Pastor Donavan Friesen and Pastor Armann Jakob Palsson. Donavan will be focusing on the character of Daniel, faithfulness, and obedience during trying times. Armann will be focusing on the theology and historical aspect of the text.
