Every year as a church, we set aside an extended time to pray, fast, and seek God both together and individually. Our next time of focused prayer and fasting will be two weeks long, from January 21 to February 4, 2025. This year’s events include worship sets, silent prayer times, a bible reading marathon, and three collective worship and prayer nights with other churches in the Fort Garry area. See details below.

Fasting will look different for everyone. There are many ways to fast, and it doesn’t need to be food. What do you rely on for comfort or give most of your attention to? We want to empty ourselves so that we can be filled by more God. You can give up coffee, TV, games, news, podcasts, social media, your whole cell phone, extra sleep, secular music, your lunch breaks, social outings, hobbies, or any other activity that consumes your day. Pray about how and what God wants you to set aside for these two weeks so you can focus fully on Him instead.
More examples and teachings can be heard in past Anchor Point messages:
Bible Reading Marathon
Friday January 24, 9:00am to Saturday January 25th, 10:00pm and then
Friday January 31, 9:00am to Saturday February 1st, until we’re finished the whole bible!
We’re so excited to host a bible reading marathon at Anchor Point Church, taking place on weekends during our prayer and fasting time (included on the above schedule). We’ll take turns reading the whole bible out loud, start to finish, from Genesis 1 all the way to the last word of Revelation 22. Reading as a group will begin on Fridays at 9:00am and go all day and all through the night until Saturday evenings. You do not have to commit to the whole event; join for for whatever time slots you can. As we gather to read the word of God together, we pray the scriptures will come alive and transform our hearts and communities. Invite your neighbours, co-workers, friends, and your whole family (children welcome)!
Collective Worship & Prayer Nights
As part of our corporate prayer and fasting time, we will be joining with other churches in our area to seek the Lord and worship together. Each church will take a turn hosting a Tuesday worship and prayer night from 7-9pm, and anyone is welcome to join!
- January 21st at Grant Memorial Church (877 Wilkes Avenue)
- January 28th at Church of the Rock (1397 Buffalo Place)
- February 4th at Anchor Point Church (1400 Pembina Highway)
