In Acts 25, Paul has the possibility to be released from prison. But he is a political prisoner. He is being used to negotiate false forms of peace and to appease the Jewish religious leaders. For two years Paul is in prison. Every reason to be bitter – and yet we don’t see one indication that he is. Rather, we see the religious leaders threatened by Paul and the gospel. For years they hold on to bitterness – even while Paul has basically no influence in the day to day life of the church because he is in prison. Bitterness and anger – are brothers. We see with clarity what bitterness did in the lives of the Jewish leaders. But they are also secret enemies within the church as well. Let’s explore how to eradicate bitterness from our lives.
