Today we will look at the establishment and ordination of God’s rest after creation, and then three different historical contexts of rest for His people that we find discussed in Hebrews 4. God’s rest for His people in all three of these contexts is fully and freely offered to them, but with conditions attached. In a broader context, this confronts our attitudes of presumption and entitlement to receiving God’s promises for us, and challenges many common misconceptions about His love for us and His perfect character.
